Who is Steph Tisdell?

Steph Tisdell thought she would be a lawyer before she became one of the brightest stars in Australian comedy, selling out award-winning live shows and generating several viral sensations. An early interest in politics saw her enrol to study law, and that sense of social justice, matched with her formidable intelligence, lets her deliver insights that challenge cultural stereotypes in a way that is hilarious, relatable and, importantly as a proud Yidinji woman, powerful.

Steph won the Deadly Funny award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Pinder Prize for her show The Pyramid, and hosted the MICF Gala in 2022. She was part of the Aboriginal All Stars line-up, which sold out most nights at the Edinburgh Fringe before heading to London’s Soho Theatre. The Scotsman described her set as “a phenomenal twenty minutes.”

Steph’s acting credits include Bump, Total Control, Class of ’07 and The Deb, and her writing credits include Fisk, Bump and Rosehaven. In 2024 her debut young adult novel The Skin I’m In was published through Pan Macmillan Australia. She has also presented on Stuff You Should Know About Australia, The Project and Australia Talks, and co-hosted the NAIDOC Awards in 2024.
